Physiomoves celebrates 1 year anniversary

October 1st marked our official 1 year opening. It has been a busy, fun, rewarding year from clinic director Tyler Dumont and the Physiomoves team. We welcome our new sports massage therapist Barry Bereziak, and look forward to physiotherapist Kristen Pummell joining us later this month.

We'd like to thank all our clients, colleagues, friends and family who support us by referring people and spreading the word about Physiomoves. We see the power of "word of mouth" at work everyday... it continues to be a main source of referrals, and is a true compliment- thank you.

During the month of October we invite you to stop by the clinic to say hello and pick up a little gift package from front reception as a small token of our sincere appreciation. Happy Fall!

UBC Faculty Promotion for Tyler!

Congratulations to Physiomoves Clinic owner, Tyler Dumont, who was recently promoted to Clinical Associate Professor within the UBC Faculty of Medicine, Department of Physical Therapy.

Tyler has been on faculty at UBC since 1998. In 2005 he won the Physiotherapy Association of BC Award of Excellence in Education. Then, in 2006, the Faculty of Medicine honoured him with the Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Tyler loves the teaching aspect of his job, and Physiomoves clients are lucky to receive evidence-based, current information from both he and Krystie (who studied at UBC under Tyler).

Ride for Hope a huge success

Congratulations to Team Alliance for successfully completing the 2008 Ride for Hope on July 9, 2008. Alliance Cyclists, including Physiomoves Physiotherapy Clinic owner Tyler Dumont, rode 100 miles from Langley to Hope raising funds and awareness for Canuck Place Children's Hospice. They raised a total of $25, 611.56 for Canuck Place.

Tyler (and his sons Kaelem and Brayden) were in the July 4 Langley Advance in a feature article about the Ride for Hope. Coincidentally, earlier that week Tyler's wife Kelly had her photo in the Langley Times for being the 1st female finisher (6th overall) in the 2008 City of Langley Tri-It Triathlon.

Physiomoves owner Tyler Dumont at local cycling race

Tyler had a blast at the Junkyard Dog mountain bike race in South Surrey on June 7th. He raced in the 40-49 master expert category (yes, he is officially in that age category!) and finished 4th. His young fans were less than thrilled with the cold, wet weather but were nonetheless very excited to see their Dad having so much fun on his bicycle. How does he have time to train amid his 70+ hour work week you ask? Good question!

Physiomoves at YMCA Healthy Kids Day

We had so much fun! Kelly (our Mon & Fri p.m. receptionist) and Kelly (Tyler's wife and a registered Occupational Therapist) were the Physiomoves representatives at the YMCA Healthy Kids Day on May 31, 2008. Kids had to correctly identify body parts or muscle groups on our "physiomoves running guy" poster in order to win a prize of their choice. It was nice to see so many friends from the neighbourhood stop by our booth. We also enjoyed meeting lots of great kids and their parents too. If you didn't get a chance to pick up a pen, sticker or brochure (or get your question answered), please feel free to stop by the clinic any time. Don't forget we're on the 2nd floor (#220- 5620 152nd St) =)
