What is a "Sports Physiotherapist"?

While there are many physiotherapy clinics in the Lower Mainland that provide "sports physiotherapy", there are actually very few therapists that have a certified Sports Physiotherapy designation. These individuals are certified with their Sports Physiotherapy Diploma from Sports Physiotherapy Canada. Physiomoves owner Tyler Dumont happens to be the only true "Sports Physiotherapist" in the South Surrey/White Rock/Cloverdale/Langley areas. To achieve this credential, Tyler has proven a high level of knowledge regarding all aspects of sports physiotherapy (including biomechanics, functional orthopaedic assessment, advanced emergency care, athletic taping, exercise physiology, sports nutrition). He has spent thousands of hours working on-field and travelling with sports teams and individual athletes. Sports Physiotherapists are qualified to work at major International Games, such as the Olympics. Tyler is a Sport Physiotherapy Canada examiner and advisor/mentor, and has worked at events such as the Pan Am Games and Canada Games.

If you have an injury as a result of participating in sport, feel confident knowing that your Physiomoves Physiotherapist is among the very best.

For a list of clinics with true "Sports Physiotherapists" working at them, please check out Harry Toor's website: http://www.vancouversportsphysio.com/ and click on "clinics". For more info about Sport Physiotherapy Canada, visit http://www.sportphysio.ca/ .

Along the same lines, we are fortunate to have Registered Sports Massage Therapist Barry Bereziak working full-time at Physiomoves. Barry is one of the few RMTs in the Lower Mainland holding the Sports Massage Therapy credential as well.
